Sandra Gasana aka Umurutasaté is a Rwandan / Canadian performing artist and the Settlement Policy Director for the Canadian Council for Refugees. She completed a Master’s degree in Political Science at UQAM, with a specialization in International Relations, and holds a Bachelor in Communications (Journalism) from the same university. Her Master’s thesis was about the impact of the inheritance law and the land law on widows of the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda. Sandra was also involved in the Montreal Life Stories project, a five-year project aiming to collect 500 life stories of Montrealers displaced by war, genocide and other human rights violations.
