Marlene Edoyan is an Armenian-Canadian filmmaker, scriptwriter, producer, and film festival programmer based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. She began her career as a production manager and artistic director on internationally co-produced animated films and television series for children. As a producer, she has collaborated with award-winning filmmakers on documentaries for television, festivals, and theatrical release. In 2012, driven by a deep interest in exploring culture through spatial inquiry as a critical point of departure for understanding identity and collective memory, Marlene founded FAUVE FILM, a production company dedicated to making author-driven, creative documentary cinema. The films delve into themes of personal narrative, migration, and displacement, weaving together geography and history through distinctive perspectives and compelling cinematic storytelling. Marlene has participated in several international workshops and labs, including EURODOC, the SODEC Lab at CPH:DOX, and Cannes Docs at the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes. Since 2021, she has served as artistic co-director and programmer at RIDM – Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal, and is also a programmer for Tënk, an online platform for creative documentary film. From 2021 to 2024, she was a member of the Board of Directors of PRIM Artist Center.
