Marianne is a Ph.D candidate in geography as well as affiliate student in the Montreal Waterways Collective and coordinator of the Concordia Ethnography Lab. After numerous twists and turns and ample questionings on the nature of what links humans, nonhumans and the living world, Marianne found her bearings in geography. Driven by an interest in stories and narration and informed by geography as a science of writing the Earth, Marianne’s doctoral research is about the material traces of anticipation as a ‘mode of dwelling’ on a changing planet, and as a way of being in relation to natural catastrophes – particularly fire. Her favorite investigation method is ethnography, by way of which the world is always known and felt anew.
