Christ Mao David Pierre is a master’s student in sociology at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). His thesis, The Haitian Community and Quebec Nationalism, from the Quiet Revolution to the 1995 Referendum, explores the political and cultural dynamics between the Haitian community and the Quebec independence movement. A teaching and research assistant in the sociology department at UQÀM, he is also involved in the community, notably with Ensemble pour le respect de la diversité, Action Réfugiés Montréal and the Observatoire des communautés noires du Québec, where he sits on the youth research committee. His interests focus on nationalism, memory, and Black communities in Quebec.
