Sonya Stefan

Sonya Stefan is a media & dance artist who creates dance documentaries. She won the 2021 Best National Medium-Length Film at the (RIDM) Montreal International Documentary Festival for « The Truss Arch ». Her recent collaborations are with multimedia dance company Animals of Distinction, Berlin’s experimental music act Group A (Tommi Tokyo and Sayaka Botanic) and Toronto’s Newton Moraes Dance Theater. She will premiere a new work with sound artist Lain-9 during a Touch Designer residency with Argentina’s ArtlabPro. Upcoming projects include an archival film project dedicated to Brazilian Canadian contemporary choreographer Newton Moraes and Qualia, a multi-media project in collaboration with sound artist Stephanie Castonguay and Biosphere Montreal focusing on moss and bio-plastics.
