Rajesh Prasad

Dr. Rajesh Prasad is an oral historian and an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, in New Delhi, India. He earned his PhD degree from the Centre for Historical Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, under the supervision of Professor Bhagwan Josh and Professor Sucheta Mahajan. With one year of teaching experience, Dr. Prasad specializes in conducting oral history interviews, editing its transcripts, and writing research articles on the Oral History of the Indian National Movement since 2016. He has extensive experience interviewing survivors of caste massacres in Bihar. Dr. Prasad has authored numerous articles on survivors’ narratives, including a chapter on Naxalites and caste wars in Bihar for the edited volume Violence and Society by the Interdisciplinary Research Foundation in Warsaw, Poland. He has also contributed to publications such as « Historical Waves of Oral History: Reflections on New Trends and Changing Practice » (International Oral History Association, Finland, 2019, ISSN – 2222-4181) and « Land, Caste and Political Power: Reflections on the Struggle of Caste Communities in Bihar » (Occasional Papers, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, 2020, ISBN – 978-93-84793-37-1). Currently, Dr. Prasad’s research focuses on the use of oral history in studying Naxalism and caste massacres in eastern India, with a particular interest in folk traditions, gender and violence, caste violence, left-wing politics, and oral history.
