Caroline Künzle is a multidisciplinary artist, radio producer and French/English translator. Her artistic practice consists of bearing witness to the world around her, gathering relevant materials (sounds, images, words, objects), assembling them, collage-style, into compositions which generate communication codes and reveal truths. In her work, she plays with humor, privileges women’s stories, creates space for intercultural and intergenerational exchanges. She hosts a bi-monthly experimental radio program called East Sonic Living, on CKUT 90.3 FM Radio and is a member of Long Haul Studios, where she produces visual art. Until the pandemic stopped it in its tracks, she was building a public dance installation, Dance Sister Dance, exploring matriarchal movement, by facilitating weekly dance workshops for women and people who identify as women. More recently, she hosted Z Gallery’s online ME WE Festival in February 2021, a showcase of musicians and storytellers. Caroline holds a BA in Drama from the University of Alberta, an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University and an MFA in Creative Practice from Transart Institute (Plymouth University, UK). Caroline has been part of COHDS’ team for several years. She was the Montreal Life Stories project web content manager, radio coordinator and OHAP interview coordinator. As COHDS’ Radio Projects coordinator, she also produced O Stories and RadiOactivité with help from her team of students and interns.
