Community Affiliate and Artist

Shahrzad Arshadi, a Montréal-based award- winning Iranian Canadian artist,
feminist and social justice activist. In her artistic career Shahrzad has ventured into different fields of photography, documentary film, playwright and performance, enabling her focus on issues of memory and culture.

She has also co-produce and co-hosting “Future Is Now” a podcast project about art and social change since the spring of 2022.

– Montreal Life Story Project 2011 “It Is Only Sound That Remains”.
– Centre For Oral History and Digital Storytelling 2015 “Come Wash With Us; Seeking Home in Story”.
– Montreal Arts Interculturels 2018 “Forbidden Voices” a solo performance.
And Nightwood Theatre and Aluna Theatre in Toronto for “Children Of Fire”

Shahrzad directed a few documentary films that have been presented in different international film festivals. In 2015 “Dancing For Change” her long documentary received an award at the 19th International Galawej Cultural Festival /Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan.
“Dangbij (Singer) is a medium length documentary which will be released in the spring 2024.
