Polina Shubina is a cultural manager, artist and a sailor. PhD student at Concordia University (INDI, Fine Arts), an affiliate of Ethnography Lab (Waterways working group). With her interdisciplinary research-creation she explores sailing as a method and sailing boat as a medium for performing arts and educational practices.

Having 10+ years of experience working with art festivals, street and puppet theatres, site-specific performances, she is interested in performance studies, social practice and participatory art. Sailing as a volunteer deckhand on several traditional sailing ships in the Baltic Sea and in the North Atlantic ocean, influenced her evolving interest and connection to (and with) water and sailing as practice. Polina is interested in oral history methods in relation to performance studies, as well as a way to explore human to other-than-human relationships.
