Artist

Patrícia Machado is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and researcher. Interested in the performativity of speech, she investigates the triad of body, memory, and territory in her choreographic and visual works. She is the creator and collaborator of different projects in the transversality of art education, where, through improvisation and listening practices, she weaves encounters between socially engaged art and social healing. She is a PhD candidate at the State University of Santa Catarina, where she conducts research titled “Radical Pedagogies in Action for Emerging Communities in Situations of Forced Displacement.” Machado is currently a visiting researcher at the Performing Arts Research cluster at Concordia University.
