Kristin M. Franseen is a postdoctoral fellow in history and Simone de Beauvoir Institute research associate at Concordia University, where she is supported by a grant from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC). She received a PhD in musicology from McGill University and an MA in music history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her monograph Imagining Musical Pasts: The Queer Literary Musicology of Vernon Lee, Rosa Newmarch, and Edward Prime- Stevenson is forthcoming from Clemson University Press in 2023. Her research explores the use of gossip and anecdote as historical sources in musicology, composer biography, and fiction on musical subjects. Other interests include women in early 20th-century music theory, the literary reception history of Antonio Salieri, and early metronome advertising.
