Mehdi Ghafouri is an independent scholar and retired academic, architect, and heritage conservation advisor. He has taught courses in architecture, museums, and heritage at UQAM, Vanier College, and in international institutions. His research interests include museum architecture, places of memory and cultural landscapes, heritage, and community participatory cultural development. He has been actively involved with several community organizations, including the Milton Parc Housing Co-op, the Société de Développement Communautaire de Montréal, the Montreal Urban Ecology Center, the Association for the Defense of Human Rights, and several organizations in the Iranaian Community in Montreal. He is currently working on a research and publication project on The Social History of Iranians in Montreal, 1960–2020, as well as the Oral History of Iranians in Montreal.
