Lachlan MacKinnon is the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Post-industrial Communities at Cape Breton University. His recent book, Closing Sysco : Industrial Decline in Atlantic Canada’s Steel City, was based upon oral history interviews with former steelworkers, their families, politicians, and economic development staff in Nova Scotia. Currently, his research focuses on transnational policymaking in response to deindustrialization and working-class activism in post-industrial communities.
