Jennifer Carmelo

Jennifer is a commercial photographer with reportage and interdisciplinary media approaches. Her interests range in childhood separation from secular public education to the cryptography movement’s influence through geopolitics. She is a Glendon Alumni with a major in semiotic humanities and a minor in Canadian studies. After she graduated, she spent time as a digital nomad mostly hanging with prolific hackers in Europe and travelling Chile. She has taken courses studying asylum law, oral history research methods, and religious syncretism in indigenous women’s history under Michael Barutciski and Amanda Ricci. Her oral research history project focused on ex-homeschooled children now adults reflecting on their educational experiences. In her spare time she likes making art with people at makerspaces.
