COHDS is delighted to announce its 2026 Storytelling Festival, Oral History & Creative Practice, taking place October 6–9, 2026, at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. In celebration of our 20th anniversary, this four-day gathering will bring together researchers, artists, students, community partners, and storytellers to explore the rich possibilities that emerge when oral history meets creative practice. Through conversations, presentations, workshops, and artistic interventions, participants will engage with innovative approaches to storytelling, memory work, and public engagement. We welcome proposals in either English or French.

This festival will provide a unique forum for collaboration and exchange for scholars at all stages of their career – both from the world of COHDS and beyond – including submissions for full conference panels, roundtable discussions, individual papers, and workshops. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or newly interested in the field, Oral History & Creative Practice offers an opportunity to connect with a vibrant community dedicated to preserving, sharing, and reimagining stories.

For complete submission guidelines, please view the full Call for Proposals (CFP) in English or the Call for Proposals (CFP) in French.
