Once again, it is time for endings and new beginnings at the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling. As we wrap up the first-ever exhibition hosted on our premises, it is time to announce other changes.

We extend a warm welcome to Associate Professor Dr. Barbara Lorenzkowski who has been appointed the new lead co-director of the centre. Dr. Lorenzkowski is an oral historian, a teacher and a historian of childhood who seeks to explore the ways in which global processes of migration, displacement, and violence have shaped small people’s lives in outsized ways. She has been a long-standing core member of COHDS and served as its Interim Co-Director in 2016-17. She was subsequently elected to the centre’s Administrative Board (2017-20). Her term as the lead co-director begins on July 1, 2023. She will work in collaboration with Dr. Catherine Richardson, the current second co-director.

Dr. Sébastien Caquard, who has shouldered the responsibility of being the lead co-director for the past three years and steered the centre through the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, will continue in his role as Professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment. We take this opportunity to thank him for his tireless work through the past years and his valuable contribution to the life and research at COHDS.
