It is with great pleasure that we announce core and community affiliate Lea Kabiljo as the recipient of the 2024 Award of Distinction in Oral History for her outstanding PhD thesis in Art Education titled Beyond the Interview: Oral History x Photography Research-Creation methodology for the enhancement of social-emotional competences for teacher candidates in art education.

A multidisciplinary researcher, Lea’s work braids together pedagogy, oral history and photography. A2019 public scholars has been involved a plethora of oral history projects over the years, including LOVE (Leave Out Violence) and Raconte-Moi Riopelle!, a project developed in celebration of what would have been the painter’s 100th birthday. With a rich career in teaching at various levels, Lea is currently an associate professor at Université Laval. Congratulations Lea!
