Living History: 100 Years of Black History, Culture and Heritage

Black immigrants have made significant cultural, artistic and social contributions to present-day Montreal. However, this history is often overlooked and rarely told. This project will trace the Black history of Montreal beyond the geographic confines of Little Burgundy, highlighting sites, events, organizations and people of significance to the English-speaking Black community. By producing 15 memoryscapes and an oral history archive, the project will capture the memories, experiences and sentiments of those directly involved in creating Montreal's history.
