Maya Lach-Aidelbaum is a master’s student in Media Studies at Concordia University. She holds a BA in Journalism with a minor in Women’s Studies, also from Concordia, and studied communication sciences during a year-long exchange at Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich. Maya has produced feminist and poetry-based audio projects, reported for radio in both Canada and Germany, and written for publications such as Verge Travel Magazine.

She worked as a journalist with CBC News for 3 years in Montreal, Toronto, and Whitehorse, covering stories on climate change, housing, and social inequality. She also served as Writer and Coordinator for Research and Graduate Communications at Concordia.

Her current research focuses on the politics of sleep and insomnia. She explores how insomnia reflects and resists capitalist demands, and how rest becomes a site of ideological struggle. More broadly, her work engages with environmental and urban questions through a lens of decolonial, relational, and creative media practices.
