Ranya E.Saad is a multimedia artist, community developer and educator, and PhD candidate in Art Education Department, Concordia University. Ranya mainly focuses on community education as  effective settings of social inclusion, social justices, and citizenship rights.

Folklore Towards Gender Equity and Citizenship in Egypt

Saad’s research focuses on examining the efficacy of contemporary Egyptian female-led folklore theatre as a plat form of social interventions against gender-based violence. The goal is to investigate the ways Egyptian folkloric story-songs displays oral history representations of the female body and how reenacting these songs in theatrical basis creates opportunities of revising cultural history to bring about change.
