Jacqueline Stol

Jacqueline Stol is a Ph.D. Candidate and a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier scholar at McGill’s School of Social Work in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her doctoral research focuses on engaging with visual, creative, and oral storytelling through qualitative community and participatory methodologies, Photovoice and Kuwentuhan (talk-story). The research aims to document and advocate for the community-building and migration experiences of LGBTQ+ Filipino/a/xs of the diaspora. She has worked in a wide range of community and social service roles in immigration, community health and youth sectors, and has been involved in Filipino/a/x youth and migrant justice organizing in the past several years. Her overall research draws from queer, diaspora, and transnational feminist theories to strengthen possibilities for participatory, equitable, and more transformative approaches amongst grassroots, community and social service organizations and the policy contexts that surround them. She has taught courses in McGill’s School of Social Work and McGill’s Institute for Canadian Studies (MISC).
