Annie Chau is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto whose doctoral research, Vietnamese Canadian Refugee Women and the Work of Identity-Making: Politics, Freedom, and Memory, received a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship and Ontario Graduate Scholarships. She has published on the topics of gender, race, class, work, politics, migration, citizenship, community, and decolonization. Her publications include contributions to Canadian Ethnic Studies, Atlantis: Critical Studies in Gender, Culture & Social Justice, the Canadian Review of Sociology, the Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education, and the edited collection, Human Rights and the United Nations: Paradox and Promise. Annie worked for a decade in community-based sexual violence response and prevention in Canada, participating in national initiatives on gender (in)justice, through Women And Gender Equality Canada (formerly Status of Women Canada) and the Canadian Women’s Foundation.
