Dr Bimadoshka Pucan, assistant professor in History and at the School of Public Affairs at Concordia, is an emerging scholar and recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario. Dr Pucan, of Saugeen First Nation, discovered the wax cylinder audio collection, recorded in the 1930s, of Robert Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson, and Dr. Edwin Seaborn. The recordings share conversations, songs, and stories of the Anishinaabeg. They were recorded during a time when it was illegal for the Indigenous people of Canada to practice their culture or speak their language.
