Sara Mizannojehdehi is a digital storyteller fascinated by a sense of place, or the feeling of comfort and inclusion one experiences when they connect with a space. As a recent graduate from Concordia’s Digital Innovation in Journalism program, her master’s thesis explored how one could combine local and graphic journalism to capture an evolving sense of place. The subject of her research was Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) Park, and over eight months, she captured its present and its past, taking methods from not just journalism, but oral history and memoir.
Beyond academia, Sara is an illustrator and a writer, freelancing for places such as the Narwhal, Montreal Gazette, Maisonneuve and more. Within her personal work, she loves exploring the connection between walking, cities, and a sense of place through creating zines. Right now, she’s a member of the NDG Historical Society, helping bring to life the neighbourhood’s 150th anniversary exhibition.
