We are pleased to launch the call for nominations and self-nominations for our annual “Award of Distinction in Oral History“. This award celebrates research excellence in the interdisciplinary field of oral history by honouring the best graduate thesis and/or work of research creation in the interdisciplinary field of oral history.
All our graduate student affiliates, who successful defended and submitted their thesis between February 1, 2025 and January 31st, 2026, are eligible to be nominated for the honour of this award. We also welcome self-nominations. The award is open to citizens, landed immigrants, and international students alike, though nominees must have been formally affiliated with COHDS in the preceding year.
As is our tradition, the winner(s) will be announced at this year’s Emerging Scholars Symposium on Friday, March 20.
Nomination packages must include:
-
The graduate thesis and/or work of research creation, alongside other relevant materials (such as website URL, text, images, etc.)
-
A cover letter that highlights the key contributions of the nominated work. The nomination letter should speak to the program of study and feature a brief summary of the graduate thesis project (around 250 words in length).
Please submit your nomination/self-nomination to the attention of Dr. Valentina Davila, Associate Director (cohdscoordinator@concordia.ca) by February 15, 2026, 11:59 p.m.
