Chloe Bordewich is a Montreal-based writer, editor, translator, and historian of the modern Middle East and its diasporas. She received her PhD in history from Harvard University in 2022 and subsequently held postdoctoral fellowships in public and digital history at Boston University and the University of Toronto’s Jackman Humanities Institute. With Lydia Harrington, she is co-founder of the Boston Little Syria Project (www.bostonlittlesyria.org), a community-engaged public history initiative documenting Boston’s first Arab neighbourhood. Chloe is especially interested in creative ways of blending scholarship with fiction, performance, and public engagement. The first staged reading of her bilingual Arabic/English play, “Paradise Expressway,” which deals with research ethics and surveillance in Cairo’s City of the Dead, was held in Toronto in April 2025. Chloe is also a volunteer guide with Heritage Montreal.
