Karina Chagnon is a doctoral candidate in semiotics at UQAM and holds an MA in Translation Studies from Concordia University. Her doctoral research, supported by the FRQSC is supervised by Sylvano Santini and Dalie Giroux. In it, she studies the role of translation in the creation of power dynamics between Indigenous and colonial languages and how decolonial translation is being used in the contemporary arts and the language resurgence movements. She coordinates the “Translating the Humanities” research project with the Laboratoire de résistance sémiotique at UQAM and contributes to arts journals Spirale, Trahir and Avant-première.
