In this presentation of my research-creation’s work in progress, I propose a reflection on how oral history performance can establish dialogues between music and testimony and between testimony and self-narrative by seeking reconciliation through a shared memory of violence in Lebanon.<\/p>\n
Jad Orph\u00e9e Chami<\/strong> is a Canadian-Lebanese composer, performer and multidisciplinary artist based in Paris that has notably worked on the original soundtrack of the feature film Antigone by Sophie Deraspe, awarded Best Canadian Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and chosen as Canada\u2019s official selection for the 92nd Oscars.<\/p>\n A recent BFA in Music graduate with distinction from Concordia University, he\u00a0is furthering his interest in research-creation which he is presently working\u00a0on in Paris at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences under\u00a0the supervision of Dr. Cl\u00e9ment Canonne (IRCAM) on the question of memory and\u00a0the role of music in the performance of testimonies in the context of oral\u00a0history performance. He is currently working on the oral histories of the\u00a0families of the disappeared during the Lebanese civil war. He is also\u00a0interested in the cross-cutting issues of art and its aesthetics\/ethics\u00a0contemporary conflicts.<\/p>\n
