Through its permanent, temporary, travelling and virtual exhibits, as well as its commemorative programs and educational initiatives, it aims to promote respect for diversity and the sanctity of human life. The Museum is Canada&rsquo;s first and only recognized Holocaust museum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The majority of the Museum&rsquo;s collection is composed of artefacts donated by local Holocaust survivors and their descendants. To date, the museum&rsquo;s collection of artefacts numbers over 13,000 objects relating to life before, during and after the Holocaust. Over 100 key artefacts from the collection are displayed on the museum&rsquo;s website and the Artefacts Canada database. Over 4,000 artefacts are accessible digitally through the Canadian Jewish Heritage Network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The museum also holds the largest oral history collection of Holocaust survivors\u2019 stories in Canada. The museum&rsquo;s oral history program started in 1994. Since then the museum has recorded and archived over 800 oral histories, and continues to do so. In 2016, it participated in the Canada Collection oral history project that consolidated more than 1,250 testimonies from Holocaust survivors across Canada and preserved them in the USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Refugee Boulevard: Making Montreal Home after the Holo<\/i><\/b><b>caust<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was a sixteen-month collaborative, community-engaged project between researchers at Dawson College, the Montreal Holocaust Museum, Saint Paul University and local survivors. The project produced a downloadable one-hour, survivor-led historical audio tour, as well as as a booklet and website, available in both French and English at<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.refugeeboulevard.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> www.refugeeboulevard.ca<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The audio tour and accompanying booklet center the voices, emotions, and experiences of six child survivors who came to Montreal through the War Orphans Project in 1948, resulting in an affective experience that invites participants to share a physical, historical, and narrative journey. The website serves to deepen our understanding of child survivors by sharing, on the web storytellers page, narratives of those who arrived in Montreal through other programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u201cTell me a story!\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a traveling exhibit created for audiences ages 8 and over, that focuses on the history of the Holocaust and WWII. In that allows children and young people to learn about the history of the Holocaust and the Second World War. Addressing core values and themes of childhood, the exhibition introduces young people to the dangers of racism and antisemitism. The five children&rsquo;s books presented in the exhibition are inspired by the real experiences of individuals.
