class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Eric Lewis is a professor of philosophy at McGill Univ., and the director of\u00a0the Laboratory of Urban Culture (LUC).\u00a0 His research focuses on the\u00a0philosophy of improvised arts.\u00a0He also runs the annual Koumaria Improvised\u00a0New Media Art Residency.\u00a0 Most recently he is the author of\u00a0\u00a0\u00bbIntents and\u00a0Purposes:Philosophy and the Aesthetics of Improvisation\u00a0\u00bb with Univ. of\u00a0Michigan Press.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Improvising the Archive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lewis is developing an interactive archive portal to allow users to play the role\u00a0not just of visitors, but curators and artists.\u00a0 The archived material\u00a0concerns the oral narratives of residents of rural Greek villages, and new\u00a0media art created from these materials.\u00a0 The project also involves assisting\u00a0villagers in establishing their own micro-museums and exhibits concerning\u00a0their oral
