COHDS has about 250 affiliated faculty members, students, artists, educators, partner organizations, and community members. Our central mission is to support the gathering and preservation of the audiovisual oral history record, while encouraging solo, collaborative, and community-based research and creation that respond to living memory and oral testimony.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">JOB DESCRIPTION:<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In preparation of our 20th anniversary in 2026, the Exhibition Assistant is responsible for developing a photo exhibition, featuring twenty years of oral history at COHDS. To this end, they will draw on the visual archive of our centre while working in close collaboration with the members of our team. The Exhibition Assistant will also consult COHDS affiliates, who wish to bring an exhibition of their own to our centre in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>We seek a candidate with initiative, who is well organized, fluently bilingual, and able to work both in a collaborative and autonomous environment. Prior experience in curating exhibitions will be an asset.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In close collaboration with the Associate Director, the Exhibition Assistant at the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling (COHDS) will be responsible for:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Developing an exhibition on twenty years of oral history at COHDS, selecting appropriate images from our COHDS visual archive, composing accompanying text panels, and staging the exhibit.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Expanding on our current exhibition infrastructure<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Managing the exhibition space and coordinating exhibition logistics<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Assisting with the development of the COHDS visual archive<\/p>\n<p>The Exhibition Assistant will be asked to attend regular staff meetings, report on their work, and communicate information to other staff members.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">REQUIREMENTS:<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Applicants must be Concordia University students <a href=\"https:\/\/www.concordia.ca\/students\/financial\/employment\/work-study.html\">eligible for work-study<\/a> (Qu\u00e9bec category)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Bilingualism (French and English)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Exhibition management experience, experience working in a gallery context and with community initiatives<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Excellent organizational skills, ability to work alone and in a group setting<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Effective communication and writing skills<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Basic computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, technical expertise related to image management an asset<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ability to work within a budget<\/p>\n<p><strong><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">CONDITIONS:<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 12.5 hours\/week (or 200 hours\/term)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Contract dates: January 12 to April 30 (negotiable)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The salary is $17.75\/hour<\/p>\n<p><strong><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">HOW TO APPLY:<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications must consist of a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, and the names of two individuals who may be contacted for reference letters.
