With the democratization of media by its digitalization, storytelling has become immersive, interactive, participatory and/or collaborative. Stories are also more and more disseminated on the web through so-called “cross-”, “multi-” or “trans-” media platforms.


Congratulations to our recent PhD graduate and current post-doctoral fellow Julie Perrone! She has just been hired as Senior Advisor, Corporate Communications for Via Rail where she will be responsible for developing guidelines and objectives for VIA's participation in all history related initiatives.

Right to the City: Cross-disciplinary pedagogy and the politics of Montréal's South-West is an initiative born of a collaboration between Concordia’s departments of Art History, Theatre, and History, as well as community partners in Pointe-Saint-Charles.

It is our pleasure to announce that affiliates Anna Sheftel and Stacey Zembrzycki have won this year’s OHA Book Award for their 2013 Palgrave publication, "Oral History off the Record: Toward an Ethnography of Practice"! This award recognizes a published book that uses oral history to make a significant contribution to contemporary scholarship; and/or significantly advances understanding of important theoretical issues in oral history; and/or is an outstanding example of innovative oral history methodology. Congrats also to the many other COHDS affiliated contributors to this book including Alan Wong, Liz Miller, Erin Jessee, Hourig Attarian, Monica Patterson, Lucho van Isschot, Hank Greenspan, and Steven High.

COHDS would like to extend welcome our new interns Nicolas Magnien and Marie-Anne Gagnon.  Nicolas will be assisting with the communications and lab operations.   Marie-Anne will be working with the COHDS archival collection.

We are very happy to announce that Eric Weissman, a former student affiliate of COHDS, won the CAGS/UMI Distinguished Dissertation Award for Spaces, Places and States of Mind: a pragmatic ethnography of liminal critique

COHDS affiliate Sharon Gubbay Helfer was recently in Barcelona to attend the International Oral History Association's biennial conference. She captured some events and conversations with presenters and has put everything together in an online multimedia reportage.
