Institut d'été COHDS-SOHC 2018

Institut d'été COHDS-SOHC 2018

25-26 juin, Glasgow, Écosse

This is an open invitation to COHDS affiliates to participate in the 2018 COHDS-Scottish Oral History Centre Summer Institute at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.  This two-day workshop from June 25th to June 26th will provide an opportunity for our two research communities to engage with each other’s research and creative practice. In addition to planned outings, everyone will be in the same room for two days – a rare opportunity to get to know oral history researchers and artists in another city.  The Summer Institute builds on a longstanding relationship between our two research centres, which has included student and faculty exchanges and joint conferences.

The Summer Institute is free, but you have to arrange your own funding to get there. Faculty and students can access the usual sources of conference funding as well as student mobility grants.  Community affiliates of COHDS are also invited to participate.

We have timed the Summer Institute so that it immediately precedes the joint annual conference of the British Oral History Society and the Oral History Network of Ireland in Belfast from June 28th to June 29th on “Dangerous Oral Histories: risks, responsibilities and rewards.” Some of you may wish to present in both Glasgow and Belfast – a rare opportunity to engage with oral historians across the UK and Ireland as well as from other countries. Two great reasons to make the trans-Atlantic trip!

Please contact Steven High (steven.high@concordia.ca ) in the coming weeks, if you are interested in participating in the Summer Institute.

If you are interested in presenting at Queen’s University-Belfast (another oral history centre that we have strong links to), here is the link to their Call for Papers: http://www.ohs.org.uk/conferences/belfast-2018/ .  The deadline for applications to the Belfast conference on is 22 December 2017.
