Bringing Your Stories To Life

Jeudi, mars 23, 2017 -
18:00 to 20:00
Speaker:
Maria Schamis Turner and Tally Abecassis

*Veuillez prendre note que cet atelier sera donné en anglais.

This workshop will discuss how to craft entertaining and meaningful true, personal stories. Participants will learn how to identify the events in their lives that can become great stories; the structure and essential components of story; the role of honesty and vulnerability in personal storytelling; and what to consider when telling stories about other people, including family and friends.

Participants will come away with increased confidence in their storytelling, awareness and understanding of the other members of the community, and a new form of creative expression to explore.

Maria Schamis Turner and Tally Abecassis are true-story true believers. They curate, organize, and host live storytelling events and workshops where people tell true stories from their own lives. As such they continually assist people in identifying meaningful moments in their lives, which can help them in conserving and disseminating their own oral histories. Select stories are recorded and archive on their website. In 2007, they founded This Really Happened, a live storytelling event where participants tell true stories in front of an audience without notes.
