GAGNON, Marie-Anne

COHDS Interim Associate Director

Marie-Anne Gagnon has been the Interim Associate Director of the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling since January 2017. She completed a Master's in Public History at Carleton University in 2014, under the supervision of James Opp, and with the support of SSHRC and FRQSC.

As an oral historian, archivist and local history researcher, she has worked with museums such as the Centre d'histoire de Montréal and the McCord Museum. Her current research fields are urban memory and heritage in Montreal. She is also interested in cultural, culinary, post-colonial, and Indigenous histories. Community engagement is at the heart of her practice; she strongly believes in collaborative/alternative learning, and strives to curate spaces where multiple voices can be heard.

Marie-Anne is co-founder of Staging Our Histories, an organisation that promotes the convergence of history and performance.
