2020 Call for Proposals: the 7th Annual Emerging Scholars' Symposium

Thursday, March 5, 2020 - 10:00 to Friday, March 6, 2020 - 19:00

7th Emerging Scholars Symposium on Oral History, Digital Storytelling, and Creative Practice

Conference and research-creation showcase: Feminist Spatial Stories

The Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling at Concordia University invites graduate students and emerging scholars to submit paper and research-creation proposals for our seventh Emerging Scholars Symposium on Oral History, Digital Storytelling, and Creative Practice. This two-days event will offer emerging scholars an opportunity to present their work at any stage, to exchange ideas, and to connect with other researchers and creators. This year’s symposium is held in collaboration with Concordia’s 4th Space (ground floor, Webster Library building) where oral history research-creation projects will be included in a showcase over the two-day symposium, March 5-6, 2020.

Feminist Spatial Stories is the title and main theme of the symposium. We invite participants to engage with the articulation of its three terms: Feminisms, space, and storytelling. We welcome you to think of feminisms as local and global, intersectional, thoughtful, intergenerational, and self-reflective. You are encouraged to explore the ways in which a space takes on meaning through story, and to consider modes of storytelling that allow us to expand the context of those spaces.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 12th, 2020.
