Conference Details

Most sessions of this year’s annual meeting will be held on the fourth floor of the Henry F. Hall Building at 1455 De Maisonneuve Boulevard West in the heart of downtown Montreal. The cornerstone of the Hall Building was laid in May 1965, at the height of the Quiet Revolution, by Quebec’s first Minister of Education, Paul Gérin-Lajoie. Opened to Sir George Williams University students in 1966, it is both a monument to 1960s modernism and the hub of Concordia’s dynamic downtown campus. Most Concordians use the central escalators to access the upper levels of the high-rise building. Two elevators are also available to carry CHA delegates to the fourth floor.

At any given time, two conference sessions will take place in the Department of History across the street. Just walk down the stairs in the entrance lobby of the Hall Building, walk through the tunnel, up the stairs, and right into the elevators in front of you. The Department of History is located on the tenth floor.

As a compensation for the brief five-minute walk, the Department of History is looking forward to offering you a home away from home. In the lobby, you will find a table with refreshments and drinks – one of our three conference food stations. You are also invited to use the History Graduate Computer Lab to catch up on your e-mail or print out the latest version of your conference presentation. The Lab will be open during regular conference hours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Coming soon, we will post our culinary maps of downtown Montreal on this site in which Concordia historians will share recommendations on their favourite Montreal coffeehouses, eateries and restaurants. Meanwhile, please do not hesitate to contact us (shc_cha@alcor.concordia.ca) if you should have any questions regarding our upcoming meeting.
